Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

Use of the AnyonWiki constitutes acceptance of these terms. Browsing the site and downloading its data require neither an account nor any agreement beyond the licence terms of the data itself. Visitors who do not accept these terms should not create an account or submit contributions.

2. Use of the data

Open access. The scientific content of this site is published openly in the AnyonWikiDatabase repository under the licence stated there. It may be downloaded, copied, redistributed, and built upon, including for commercial research, subject to that licence.

Citation. Where data obtained from this site is used in published work, the sources listed on the citation page and in the References and Software sections of the pages consulted should be cited. This is a scholarly expectation rather than a condition of the licence; it is the means by which those who produced the data are credited.

Automated access. Reasonable programmatic use of the site and its interface is permitted. Users must not impose load sufficient to degrade the service for others. For bulk use, the dataset archive should be downloaded rather than individual pages retrieved.

3. Accounts

Accounts are created through ORCID, and a GitHub account may optionally be linked. Account holders are responsible for activity carried out through their account and for maintaining its security.

Each account carries a role that determines its permissions. Changes of role may be requested through the contact form and are granted at the discretion of the AnyonWiki team.

4. Contributions

Corrections and additions are submitted through the contact form or as pull requests to the relevant GitHub repository. All submissions are reviewed before publication.

By contributing, the contributor confirms that they are entitled to submit the material and agrees to its publication under the same open licence as the corresponding repository. Contributors retain whatever rights they already hold in their own work.

Contributions are credited through the contributor's ORCID iD or GitHub account. Should the account be deleted, the contributions remain but the personal attribution on this site is removed.

Contributors are responsible for the accuracy of what they submit and for citing the sources from which it derives.

5. Prohibited conduct

Users must not

• knowingly submit false or fabricated data;
• submit material they are not entitled to publish openly;
• violate applicable law;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service; or
• interfere with the service or impose undue load upon it.

6. Accuracy of the database

The database is under active development and entries may be incomplete or incorrect. It is a research resource and not an authority; anything relied upon should be independently verified, and apparent errors should be reported. The service is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the AnyonWiki and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the service or of data obtained through it. The service may be modified or withdrawn at any time.

8. Account deletion

An account may be deleted at any time from the account settings. The privacy policy sets out what is removed and what is retained.

9. Changes to these terms

These terms may be revised. The date shown above indicates when they were last changed, and continued use of the service after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
