Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy describes what personal information AnyonWiki collects, why it is collected, and how it is handled. It applies to the website and its programming interface.

The site can be browsed, searched, and its data downloaded without an account. In that case no personal information is collected. Personal information is held only where a visitor chooses to sign in or to send a message.

2. Information collected

Sign-in through ORCID. The ORCID iD, together with the name and email address released by the ORCID profile, is stored. The access and refresh tokens issued by ORCID are stored in order to verify the session. Signing in is optional and is required only to contribute.

Linked GitHub account. Where a visitor links a GitHub account, the GitHub username and its associated email address are stored so that documentation changes can be attributed in the relevant repository.

Contact form. The name, email address, subject, and message entered into the form are transmitted to the AnyonWiki team by email, together with the ORCID iD and requested role where a change of role is requested. Submissions are not published.

Contribution records. Contributions and documentation edits associated with an account are recorded, including the file changed and the status of the resulting pull request, so that work can be reviewed and credited.

Usage statistics. A self-hosted instance of Umami, operated on AnyonWiki infrastructure, records page views. Each view is stored with the address of the page visited and its title, the referring site, the time, the browser and its version, the operating system, the device type and screen size, the browser language, and the country, region, and city inferred from the IP address. The IP address itself is not stored. Visits are told apart only by an anonymous identifier derived from the IP address and browser details together with a salt that changes regularly. No cookies are set, and visitors are not identified or tracked across sites.

3. Cookies and local storage

One cookie is set, and only after signing in: a session token that keeps the visitor signed in. It is removed on signing out. The browser may also store the chosen colour theme and table column preferences locally on the visitor's own device; that information is never transmitted to AnyonWiki.

4. Purpose and disclosure

Personal information is used solely to

• authenticate visitors and maintain their session;
• attribute and review contributions;
• respond to messages sent through the contact form; and
• understand, in aggregate, which pages are used.

It is not used for advertising, and it is not sold or shared with third parties beyond the service providers listed below.

5. Scientific data

The fusion rings, fusion categories, and algebraic numbers presented on this site contain no personal information. They are published openly in the AnyonWikiDatabase repository and may be freely downloaded and redistributed. Names of individuals appear only as part of bibliographic citations.

6. Retention and deletion

An account may be deleted at any time from the account settings. Deletion removes personal information and authentication tokens. Contributions made through the account remain in the database without personal attribution, so that the scientific record stays intact and citable. Changes already merged into a public GitHub repository form part of that repository's history and cannot be withdrawn by AnyonWiki.

7. Your rights

Visitors may request a copy of the personal information held about them, request its correction, or request its deletion by writing to the address below. Most of this information is already visible on the profile and settings pages.

8. Service providers

AnyonWiki relies on the following external services:

• ORCID, for sign-in (privacy policy);
• GitHub, for optional account linking and for hosting the data and documentation repositories; and
• hosting and email providers, for operating the site, its database, and delivery of contact form messages.
